The Arabic word ‘Baladiyati’ translates to ‘My Municipality’ in English. This refers to the programme “Recovery, Stability and Socio-economic Development in Libya”, the largest Action ever financed by the European Union through the EU Emergency Trust Fund for Africa (EUFT) in direct support of Libyan municipalities and some of the most vulnerable communities in the country.
The 3-year Action, expected to run until June 2022, currently works with 27 municipalities across Libya with the aim to improve people’s access to quality public services such as health, education and water and sanitation (WASH). Baladiyati allows for over 100 crucial interventions implemented on ground by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and UNICEF.
The European Union Emergency Trust Fund for stability and addressing root causes of irregular migration and displaced persons in Africa (EUTF for Africa) was created to address the root causes of instability, forced displacement and irregular migration and to contribute to better migration management. #AfricaTrustFund
